FAQs

No. Grapes 3D is not a 3D audio engine itself. Instead, it connects via OSC to the 3D audio engine of your choice, sending positioning data for sound objects and enabling faster, more intuitive, and more creative spatial audio mixing and performance.

→ Tutorials

Yes. In addition to the standalone application, Grapes 3D is available as a VST3 plugin and works in any VST3-compatible DAW. You can record spatial movements as MIDI automation or trigger movement clips and scenes directly from your DAW’s timeline — giving you full control of immersive audio within your existing workflow.

→ Tutorials

Yes. Grapes 3D works with Dolby Atmos in some DAWs. Since Atmos doesn’t have an open OSC interface, Grapes can’t control the renderer directly. Instead, Grapes 3D controls the objects through the DAW’s integrated Dolby Atmos panners or the Dolby Atmos Music Panner — for example in Nuendo or Reaper — allowing you to shape spatial audio efficiently within your existing Atmos workflow.

→ Tutorials

Yes. Grapes 3D works for live artistic performance and show control. It sends real-time positioning data to your 3D audio engine, letting artists and audio engineers perform, automate, and shape sound objects dynamically.

→ Tutorials

Yes — absolutely! This is one of Grapes 3D’s standout features. You can simply change the OSC output and send your full spatial mix to another 3D audio engine. This gives you maximum flexibility and independence from specific systems, making it easy to transport your show or composition across different setups. Individual scaling options further enhance this process, ensuring your mix adapts accurately to each system.

→ Tutorials

Yes. Grapes 3D supports MIDI input and allows you to map parameters to any MIDI controller. You can control spatial positions, movement speeds, clip and row triggers, and almost any other parameter in real time.

Grapes 3D connects to external 3D audio engines and processors via OSC (Open Sound Control), either locally on your computer or over a network.

Simply configure the target IP address and port inside Grapes 3D. Once connected, spatial position and control data are sent directly to your renderer or processor — giving you precise, real-time control over your 3D audio environment.

Grapes 3D also comes with over 15 partner-approved OSC presets to get you started quickly with major spatial audio engines.

→ Tutorials

Any 3D audio engine that supports OSC input can be controlled with Grapes 3D.

Grapes 3D includes over 15 partner-approved OSC presets for leading spatial audio engines and processors. You can also create fully customized OSC presets to communicate with any OSC-compatible system — from audio renderers and immersive processors to media servers, visual software, and dome projection systems.
